Grant Information

In 2023, the City of Broken Arrow was awarded $5.84 million from the US Department of Transportation as part of the Rebuilding America’s Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity (RAISE) grant program. The grant will fund planning and engineering for multimodal improvements in several interconnected corridors that are currently divided by an urban freeway (SH-51 Broken Arrow Expressway). Improvements will include new roadway improvements, sidewalks, and multi-use trails with amenities.

Safety, as well as mobility and community connectivity, will be addressed by closing gaps in the sidewalk network and constructing wide side paths and trails. The project will support active transportation by including more available, more accessible, and safer bicycle and pedestrian facilities. Improved connections will aid travelers in reaching their daily destinations and will support future economic development.
